Success Stream

Background

Jo set up and ran Success Stream Ltd., a business helping clients achieve their true potential be that at work, in their career or life. Her specialisms are in personal and team performance, and wellbeing.

Getting up and running she required a portfolio website detailing her services and offers.

How We Helped

We created a WordPress website integrating with an online booking calendar and customer survey.

One of the biggest challenges facing small businesses is getting traffic to a new website: no one knows the business exists or, often, you exist as person (either online on in reality). The website starts with great enthusiam but typically ends up ranking for very few keywords in Google and gets very few visitors due to having a very small amount of content beyond Services, About and Contact. The adage ‘Build it and they will come’ simply doesn’t work.

Jo realised this was an exercise in search engine optimisation and we embarked on a monthly blogging plan with the aim of getting targeted visitors to a relatively new website with little history or authority.

Outcome

Writing blog posts at one per month meant ranking in Google was something of a slow burn as the search engine slowly better understood where Jo’s expertise lay and what the focus of the website was.

However, as content grew so did the number of keywords the site ranked for and number of visitors. The site soon ranked on page #1 for very targeted keywords such as being the featured snippet for topics around personal development, performance management, and business targets, and keywords on page #1 relating to goal setting, leadership, wellbeing, relationships, diets, and more – all very targeted to her audience.

This was also the topic of conversation when I was interview by Doug Cunnington on Niche Site Projects. Please click here to see the videos.

We also host the website which generates traffic from round the world.

Update: Jo has since retired and updating the site has stopped. However, we kept it live and it still ranks very well for great keywords like ‘What is an unbalanced diet?’, agreeing targets, midlife crises, and self-esteem – all keywords Jo was keen on ranking for – proving the fact that well-written content can stand the test of time.
