The Gathering Edale

Background

The Gathering in Edale is a well-known glamping and holiday home letting buiness based in Edale, in the heart of the Peak District National Park. With four glamping sarafi tents, two holiday lets in the Shooting Lodge, and the self-contained Grindsbrook Barn it is a popular destination for family holidays and events alike.

The previous website had been up and running for several years and was in need of an update. Built on the booking calendar’s platform it lacked much pazzaz and functionality, and in the increasingly competitive travel market the business needed a refreshed and updated site to attract more bookings and better showcase the business. It needed an overhaul.

How We Helped

The new site was mapped out to include pages for each individual glamping tent and holiday let along with an updated section for events (gatherings) including weddings, celebrations, yoga and corporate retreats, an updated and much improved image gallery, and the necessary Bookings, About, and Contact pages.

Content was largely rewritten to better describe the venue and its offer and position it a Peak District retreat for families and holidays, and event space. Photography was updated to really showcase the properties in their best light.

At the same time pages were optimised for specific keywords the business was targeting meaning an improvement in on-page and technical SEO from titles, headings and body copy to URL naming, website architecture and more.

Outcome

Built with WordPress the clients were delighted with the end result: a richer, more informative, colourful website and much improved user experience. It was also much better optimised for their target keywords to the extent that prior to launch they ranked nowhere in Google for a main keyword (below position 100) and within days ranked on page #1, in the top 10, meaning more traffic from people searching for exactly what they provide: glamping and holiday lets in the Peak District.
